Social media has become a key part of digital society and there are just so many occasions and instances where people need to share their social media handles. Encouraging your audience to follow your social media account in other forms of content and online and offline channels has some familiar issues that keep appearing.
The native search function to find a user in every social media platform runs up against the same problem, finding one specific account among many similar accounts and crucially, trying to determine real accounts from fake accounts.
That’s why simply spelling your account name won’t garner as many followers as a QR code because many people won’t spend the time manually entering your username and looking through search results to follow you.
Creating a social media QR code to grow your followers is easy to generate and share in many different ways, let’s take a look at how to do this on ConnectQR.
Step-by-Step Guide for Creating a Social Media QR Code:
- After logging into your ConnectQR account, click on “Create QR” and then choose between “Dynamic QR” or “Static QR”. Choose any social media platform that applies to you from our selection, for now we’ll select “X(Twitter)” under “Dynamic QR”.
- Pick a name for your new QR code and enter it into the “Name Your QR” box. Add a name for your QR code for future reference. Add tags for your new code in the “Tags” box. These tags help you search for QR codes and others like it in the future.
- All you need to do now is add your Twitter handle in the “Twitter Username” field. Once you have done this, click “Save”.
- Done! You can now download the QR code in the file format of your choice (JPG, SVG, PNG) and use it immediately. Click on “Access My ConnectQR” edit or check the analytics for your new dynamic QR code!
- You can continue to customise your QR code by choosing between “Customise QR Code” and “AI QR Code” under the “Additional Options” heading. If you select “Customise QR Code”, you can customise your QR code’s appearance and even add your logo to it. Our “AI QR Code” feature allows you to use AI tools to create a truly unique QR code quickly and it is available to paid subscribers only.
Things to Keep in Mind:
- Check your QR code after you generate it to make sure it leads to your social media account. If you enter the wrong handle, you’ll need to edit it later on so it leads to your account.
- QR code readability can affect its performance so make sure that you use appropriate colours. A good rule of thumb is to use dark colours for your QR code pattern and a light colour for the background so they are easily distinguishable by both people and cameras.
- QR code size is another factor that can affect performance greatly because if it is too small, scanners will not pick it up easily. The minimum QR code size for printed QR codes should be 1 inch (2.54 cm).
